Impressions of Cape Town

In two days, I didn’t see much of Cape Town at all, given the little trips to see penguins, the Cape of Good Hope, and Table Mountain. But what I did see, and what was obvious within about thirty seconds of arriving in the city, was that it’s a far nicer place than Johannesburg.

Cape Town Apart from the weather (better, sunnier) the beach (freezing water, but gorgeous vistas) and the scenery (beach, mountains, seawall)… Cape Town also seems to be much more secure. While I wasn’t very happy waiting on a dark street corner for some cowboy businessman to show up and reclaim his mini cooper, the seawall was lovely, the downtown was nice, the nightclub seemed more racially integrated than the Jo’burg ones I’d seen, and everything seemed more relaxed.

All in all, Cape Town had a Mediterranean city kind of vibe.
